but Denzel Washington and his family visited

the troops at Brook Army Medical Center , in

San Antonio , Texas (BAMC) the other day. This

is where soldiers who have been evacuated from

Germany come to be hospitalized in the United

States, especially burn victims There are some

buildings there called Fisher Houses. The Fisher

House is a Hotel where soldiers' families can stay,

for little or no charge, while their soldier is staying

in the Hospital. BAMC has quite a few of these houses

on base, but as you can imagine, they are almost filled

most of the time.

While Denzel Washington was visiting BAMC, they gave

him a tour of one of the Fisher Houses. He asked how

much one of them would cost to build. He took his check

book out and wrote a check for the full amount right there

on the spot. The soldiers overseas were amazed to hear

this story and want to get the word out to the American

public, because it warmed their hearts to hear it

The question is - why do:
Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan,
Paris Hilton,

Tom Cruise and

other Hollywood fluff

make front page news with their ridiculous

antics and Denzel Washington's Patriotism

doesn't even make page 3 in the Metro section of

any newspaper except the Local newspaper in San

Antonio?

Are we Americans as dumb as we appear --- or --- is it that we just do not think?

While the Chinese, knowingly and intentionally, export inferior and even toxic products and dangerous toys and goods to be sold in American markets, the media wrings its hands

Yet many Americans believe that the trading privileges afforded to the Chinese should be suspended.

Well, duh..why do you need the government to suspend trading privileges?

SIMPLY DO IT YOURSELF, AMERICA !!

Simply look on the bottom of every product you buy, and if it says 'Made in China ' or 'PRC' (and that now includes Hong Kong ), simply choose another product, or none at all. You will be amazed at how dependent you are on Chinese products, and you will be equally amazed at what you can do without.

Who needs plastic eggs to celebrate Easter? If you must have eggs, use real ones and benefit some American farmer. Easter is just an example, the point is do not wait for the government to act. Just go ahead and assume control on your own.

THINK ABOUT THIS If 200 million Americans refuse to buy just $20 each of Chinese goods, that's a billion dollar trade imbalance resolved in our favor...fast!

The downside? Some American businesses will feel a temporary pinch from having foreign stockpiles of inventory. Wahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

The solution? Let's give them fair warning and send our own message. Most of the people who have been reading about this matter are planning on implementing this on June 4, and continue it until July 4. That is only one month of trading losses, but it will hit the Chinese for 1/12th of the total, or 8%, of their American exports. Then they will at least have to ask themselves if the benefits of their arrogance and lawlessness were worth it.

Remember June 4 to July 4.

EVEN BETTER. . . START NOW.

Let's show them that we are Americans and NOBODY can take us for granted.

If we can't live without cheap Chinese goods for one month out of our lives, WE DESERVE WHAT WE GET!

John is the kind of guy you love to hate. He is always in a good mood and always has something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, 'If I were any better, I would be twins!'

He was a natural motivator.

If an employee was having a bad day, John was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation.

Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up and asked him, 'I don't get it!'

'You can't be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?'

He replied, 'Each morning I wake up and say to myself, you have two choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or...you can choose to be in a bad mood

I choose to be in a good mood.'

Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or...I can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it.

Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or...I can point out the positive side of life. I choose the positive side of life.

'Yeah, right, it's not that easy,' I protested.

I reflected on what he said. Soon hereafter, I left the Tower Industry to start my own business. We lost touch, but I often thought about him when I made a choice about life instead of reacting to it.

Several years later, I heard that he was involved in a serious accident, falling some 60 feet from a communications tower.

After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, he was released from the hospital with rods placed in his back.

Robby's Night True Story Worth Reading--

At the
prodding of my friends, I am writing this story. My name is
Mildred Hondorf. I am a former elementary school music
teacher from Des Moines , Iowa . I've always
supplemented my income by teaching piano lessons-something
I've done for over 30 years. Over the years I found that
children have many levels of musical ability. I've never
had the pleasure of having a prodigy though I have taught
some talented students. However I've also had my share
of what I call 'musically challenged' pupils. One
such student was Robby. Robby was 11 years old when his
mother (a single Mom) dropped him off for his first piano
lesson. I prefer that students (especially boys!) begin at
an earlie r age, which I explained to Robby. But Robby said
that it had always been his mother's dream to hear him
play the piano. So I took him as a student. Well, Robby
began with his piano lessons and from the beginning I
thought it was a hopeless endeavor. As much as Robby tried,
he lacked the sense of tone and basic rhythm needed to excel
but he dutifully reviewed his scales and some elementary
pieces that I require all my students to learn. Over the
months he tried and tried while I listened and cringed and
tried to encourage him. At the end of each weekly lesson
he'd always say, 'My mom's going to hear me play
someday.' But it seemed hopeless. He just did not have
any inborn ability. I only knew his mother from a distance
as she dropped Robby off or waited in her aged car to pick
him up. She always waved and smiled but never stopped in.
Then one day Robby stopped coming to our lessons. I thought
about calling him but assumed becaus e of his lack of
ability, that he had decided to pursue sometng else. I also
was glad that he stopped coming. He was a bad advertisement
for my teaching! Several weeks later I mailed to the
student's homes a flyer on the upcoming recital. To my
surprise Robby (who received a flyer) asked me if he could
be in the recital. I told him that the recital was for
current pupils and because he had dropped out he really did
not qualify. He said that his mother had been sick and
unable to take him to piano lessons but he was still
practicing 'Miss Hondorf, I've just got to
play!' he insisted. I don 't know what led me to
allow him to play in the recital. Maybe it was his
persistence or maybe it was something inside of me saying
that it would be all right. The night for the recital came .
The high school gymnasium was packed with parents, friends
and relatives. I put Robby up last in the program before I
was to come up and thank all the students and play a
finishing piec e. I thought that any damage he would do
would come at the end of the program and I could always
salvage his poor performance through my 'curtain
closer.' Well, the recital went off without a hitch. The
students had been practicing and it showed, then Robby came
up on stage. His clothes were wrinkled and his hair looked
like he'd run an eggbeater through it. 'Why
didn't he dress up like the other students?' I
thought. 'Why didn't his mother at least make him
comb his hair for this special night?' Robby pulled out
the piano bench and he began. I was surprised when he an
nounced that he had chose n Mozart's Concerto #21 in C
Major. I was not prepared for what I heard next. His fingers
were light on the keys, they even danced nimbly on the
ivories. He went from pianissimo to fortissimo. From allegro
to virtuoso. His suspended chords that Mozart demands were
magnificent! Never had I heard Mozart played so well by
people his age. After six and a half minutes he ended in a
grand crescendo and everyone was on their feet in wild
applause. Overcome and in tears I ran up on stage and put my
arms around Rob by in joy. 'I've never heard you
play like that Robby! How'd you do it? ' Through the
microphone Robby explained: 'Well, Miss Hondorf,
Remember I told you my Mom was sick? Well, actually she had
cancer and passed away this morning and well... She was born
deaf so tonight was the first time she ever heard me play. I
wanted to make it special.' There wasn't a dry eye
in the house that evening. As the people from Social
Services led Robby from the stage to be placed into foster
care, noticed that even their eyes were red and puffy and I
thought to myself how much richer my life had been for
taking Robby as my pupil. No, I've never had a pro digy
but that night I became a prodigy ... Of Robby's. He was
the teacher and I was the pupil for it is he that taught me
the meaning of perseverance and love and believing in
yourself and maybe even taking a chance in someone and you
don't know why. Robby was killed in the senseless
bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma
City in April of 1995. And now, a footnote to the story.
So many seemingly trivial
interactions between two people present us with a choice: Do
we act with compassion or do we pass up that opportunity and
leave the world a bit colder in the process? Thank you for

your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax.

Each day you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer.

After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato sacks. Then try 50-lb
potato sacks and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a

In the year 2008, the Lord came unto Noah, who was now living in the United States , and said:

I needed a building permit.

I've been arguing with the inspector about the need for a sprinkler system.

My neighbors claim that I've violated the neighborhood zoning laws by building the Ark in my yard and exceeding the height limitations.

We had to go to the Development Appeal Board for a decision.

Then the Department of Transportation demanded a bond be posted for the future costs of moving power lines and other overhead obstructions, to clear the passage for the Ark 's move to the sea.

I told them that the sea would be coming to us, but they would hear nothing of it.

Getting the wood was another problem. There's a ban on cutting local trees in order to save the spotted owl

I tried to convince the environmentalists that I needed the wood to save the owls - but no go!

When I started gathering the animals, an animal rights group sued me.

They insisted that I was confining wild animals against their will.

They argued the accommodations were too restrictive, and it was cruel and inhumane

to put so many animals in a confined space.

Then the EPA ruled that I couldn't build the Ark until they'd conducted an environmental impact study on your proposed flood.

I'm still trying to resolve a complaint with the Human Rights Commission on how many minorities I'm supposed to hire for my building crew.

Immigration and Naturalization are checking the green-card status of most of the people who want to work.

The trades unions say I can't use my sons.

They insist I have to hire only Union workers with Ark-building experience.

To make matters worse, the IRS seized all my assets, claiming I'm trying to leave the country illegally with endangered species.

So, forgive me, Lord, but it would take at least 10 years for me to finish this Ark.

Suddenly the skies cleared, the sun began to shine, and a rainbow stretched across the sky.

During the summer of 1981, after his second year in college, he made a 'round the world' trip. Stopping to see his mother in Indonesia, next Hyderabad in India, three weeks in Karachi, Pakistan where he stayed with his roommate's family, then off to Africa to visit his father's family. My question - Where did he get the money for this trip? When he came back he started school at Columbia University in New York. It is at this time he wants everyone to call him Barack - not Barry. Do you know what the tuition is at Columbia? It's not cheap to say the least! Where did he get money for tuition? Student Loans? Maybe. After Columbia, he went to Chicago to work as a Community Organizer for $12,000 a year. Why Chicago? Why not New York? He was already living in New York.

By 'chance' he met Antoin 'Tony' Rezko, born in Aleppo Syria, and a real estate developer in Chicago. Rezko has been convicted of fraud and bribery this year. Rezko, was named 'Entrepreneur of the Decade' by the Arab-American Business and Professional Association'. About two years later, Obama entered Harvard Law School. Do you have any idea what tuition is for Harvard Law School? Where did he get the money for Law School? More student loans? After Law school, he went back to Chicago. Rezko offered him a job, which he turned down. But, he did take a job with Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland. Guess what? They represented 'Rezar' which is Rezko's firm. Rezko was one of Obama's first major financial contributors when he ran for office in Chicago. In 2003, Rezko threw an early fundraiser for Obama which Chicago Tribune reporter David Mendelland claims was instrumental in providing Obama with 'seed money' for his U.S. Senate race. In 2005, Obama purchased a new home in Kenwood District of Chicago for $1.65 million (less than asking price). With ALL those Student Loans - Where did he get the money for the property? On the same day Rezko's wife, Rita, purchased the adjoining empty lot for full price. The London Times reported that Nadhmi Auchi, an Iraqi-born Billionaire loaned Rezko $3.5 million, three weeks before Obama's new home was purchased. Obama met Nadhmi Auchi many times with Rezko.

Now, we have Obama running for President. Valerie Jarrett, was Michele Obama's boss. She is now Obama's chief advisor and he does not make any major decisions without talking to her first. Where was Jarrett born? Ready for this? Shiraz, Iran! Do we see a pattern here?

On May 10, 2008 The Times reported, Robert Malley, advisor to Obama, was 'sacked' after the press found out he was having regular contacts with 'Hamas', which controls Gaza and is connected with Iran. This past week, buried in the back part of the papers, Iraqi newspapers reported that during Obama's visit to Iraq, he asked their leaders to do nothing about the war until after he is elected, and he will 'Take care of things'.

Oh, and by the way, remember the college roommates that where born in Pakistan? They are in charge of all those 'small' Internet campaign contributions for Obama. Where is that money coming from? The poor and middle class in this country? Or could it be from the Middle East?

And the final bit of news. On September 7, 2008, The Washington Times posted a verbal slip that was made on 'This Week' with George Stephanapoulos. Obama on talking about his religion said, 'My Muslim faith'. When questioned, 'he made a mistake'. Some mistake!

My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And, I mean, he was really friendly. So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!'

This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.'

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets. The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day.

Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so...Love the people who treat you right.

Pray for the ones who don't. Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!

Spreading the wealth around - interesting concept

In a local restaurant my server had on a "Obama 08" tie, again I laughed
as he had given away his political preference--just imagine the
coincidence.

When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him
that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He
stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to
redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless
guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.

I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the
server inside as I've decided he could use the money more. The homeless
guy was grateful.

At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I
realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn,
but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn
even though the actual recipient needed the money more.

I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in
concept than in practical application.

Change into very comfortable clothing and sit in your favorite chair. Open the package and remove the thermometer. Now, carefully place it on a table or a surface so that it will not become chipped or broken.

The reason for this is that God is more interested in your character

This past year has been the greatest year of my life but also the

toughest, with my wife, Kay, getting cancer.

I used to think that life was hills and valleys - you go through a

believe that anymore.

Rather than life being hills and valleys, I believe that it's kind of

like two rails on a railroad track, and at all times you have

something good and something bad in your life.

No matter how good things are in your life, there is always

something bad that needs to be worked on.

And no matter how bad things are in your life, there is always

something good you can thank God for.

You can focus on your purposes, or you can focus on your problems.

If you focus on your problems, you're going into self-

centeredness,'which is my problem, my issues, my pain.' But one of

the easiest ways to get rid of pain is to get your focus off yourself

and onto God and others.

We discovered quickly that in spite of the prayers of hundreds of

thousands of people, God was not going to heal Kay or make it

easy for her.

It has been very difficult for her, and yet God has strengthened her

character, given her a ministry of helping other people, given her a

testimony, drawn her closer to Him and to people.

You have to learn to deal with both the good and the bad of life.

Actually, sometimes learning to deal with the good is harder. For

instance, this past year, all of a sudden, when the book sold 15

million copies, it made me instantly very wealthy.

It also brought a lot of notoriety that I had never had to deal

with before. I don't think God gives you money or notoriety for

your own ego or for you to live a life of ease.

So I began to ask God what He wanted me to do with this money,

notoriety and influence. He gave me two different passages that

helped me decide what to do, II Corinthians 9 and Psalm 72

First, in spite of all the money coming in, we would not change

our lifestyle one bit. We made no major purchases.

Second, about midway through last year, I stopped taking a salary

from the church.

Third, we set up foundations to fund an initiative we call The

Peace Plan to plant churches, equip leaders, assist the poor, care

for the sick, and educate the next generation.

Fourth, I added up all that the church had paid me in the 24 years

since I started the church, and I gave it all back. It was liberating

to be able to serve God for free.

We need to ask ourselves: Am I going to live for possessions?

Popularity?

Am I going to be driven by pressures? Guilt? Bitterness?

Materialism? Or am I going to be driven by God's purposes

(for my life)?

When I get up in the morning, I sit on the side of my bed and say,

God, if I don't get anything else done today, I want to know =

You more and love You better. God didn't put me on earth just to

fulfill a to-do list. He's more interested in what I am than what I do.
That's why we're called human beings, not human doings.

Post-Exercise Caffeine Helps Muscles Refuel

Recipe to recover more quickly from exercise: Finish workout, eat pasta, and wash down with five or six cups of strong coffee.

Glycogen, the muscle's primary fuel source during exercise, is
replenished more rapidly when athletes ingest both carbohydrate and
caffeine following exhaustive exercise, new research from the online
edition of theJournal of Applied Physiology
shows. Athletes who ingested caffeine with carbohydrate had 66% more
glycogen in their muscles four hours after finishing intense,
glycogen-depleting exercise, compared to when they consumed
carbohydrate alone, according to the study, published by The American Physiological Society.

The study, "High rates of muscle glycogen resynthesis after exhaustive
exercise when carbohydrate is co-ingested with caffeine," is by David
J. Pedersen, Sarah J. Lessard, Vernon G. Coffey, Emmanuel G. Churchley,
Andrew M. Wootton, They Ng, Matthew J. Watt and John A. Hawley. Dr.
Pedersen is with the Garvan Institute of Medical Research in Sydney,
Australia, Dr. Watt is from St. Vincent's Institute of Medical
Research, Fitzroy, Victoria, Australia. All others are with the Royal
Melbourne Institute of Technology University (RMIT) in Bundoora,
Victoria, Australia.

Caffeine aids carbohydrate uptake

It is already
established that consuming carbohydrate and caffeine prior to and
during exercise improves a variety of athletic performances. This is
the first study to show that caffeine combined with carbohydrates
following exercise can help refuel the muscle faster.

"If you have 66% more fuel for the next day's training or competition,
there is absolutely no question you will go farther or faster," said
Dr. Hawley, the study's senior author. Caffeine is present in common
foods and beverages, including coffee, tea, chocolate and cola drinks.

The study was conducted on seven well-trained endurance cyclists who
participated in four sessions. The participants first rode a cycle
ergometer until exhaustion, and then consumed a low-carbohydrate dinner
before going home. This exercise bout was designed to reduce the
athletes' muscle glycogen stores prior to the experimental trial the
next day.

The athletes did not eat again until they returned to the lab the next
day for the second session when they again cycled until exhaustion.
They then ingested a drink that contained carbohydrate alone or
carbohydrate plus caffeine and rested in the laboratory for four hours.
During this post-exercise rest time, the researchers took several
muscle biopsies and multiple blood samples to measure the amount of
glycogen being replenished in the muscle, along with the concentrations
of glucose-regulating metabolites and hormones in the blood, including
glucose and insulin.

The entire two-session process was repeated 7-10 days later. The only
difference was that this time, the athletes drank the beverage that
they had not consumed in the previous trial. (That is, if they drank
the carbohydrate alone in the first trial, they drank the carbohydrate
plus caffeine in the second trial, and vice versa.)

The drinks looked, smelled and tasted the same and both contained the
same amount of carbohydrate. Neither the researchers nor the cyclists
knew which regimen they were receiving, making it a double-blind,
placebo-controlled experiment.

Glucose and insulin levels higher with caffeine ingestion

The researchers found the following:

- one hour after exercise, muscle glycogen levels had replenished to
the same extent whether or not the athlete had the drink containing
carbohydrate and caffeine or carbohydrate only

- four hours after exercise, the drink containing caffeine resulted in
66% higher glycogen levels compared to the carbohydrate-only drink

- throughout the four-hour recovery period, the caffeinated drink
resulted in higher levels of blood glucose and plasma insulin

- several signaling proteins believed to play a role in glucose
transport into the muscle were elevated to a greater extent after the
athletes ingested the carbohydrate-plus-caffeine drink, compared to the
carbohydrate-only drink

Dr. Hawley said it is not yet clear how caffeine aids in facilitating
glucose uptake from the blood into the muscles. However, the higher
circulating blood glucose and plasma insulin levels were likely to be a
factor. In addition, caffeine may increase the activity of several
signaling enzymes, including the calcium-dependent protein kinase and
protein kinase B (also called Akt), which have roles in muscle glucose
uptake during and after exercise.

Lower dose is next step

In this study, the researchers used a high dose of caffeine to
establish that it could help the muscles convert ingested carbohydrates
to glycogen more rapidly. However, because caffeine can have
potentially negative effects, such as disturbing sleep or causing
jitteriness, the next step is to determine whether smaller doses could
accomplish the same goal.

Hawley pointed out that the responses to caffeine ingestion vary widely
between individuals. Indeed, while several of the athletes in the study
said they had a difficult time sleeping the night after the trial in
which they ingested caffeine (8 mg per kilogram of body weight, the
equivalent of drinking 5-6 cups of strong coffee), several others fell
asleep during the recovery period and reported no adverse effects.

Athletes who want to incorporate caffeine into their workouts should
experiment during training sessions well in advance of an important
competition to find out what works for them.

A U.S. Navy Admiral was attending a naval conference that included Admirals from the U.S., English, Canadian, Australian and French Navies. At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a large group of Officers that included personnel from most of those countries. Global warming will stop until at least 2015 because of natural variations in the climate, scientists have said.

Researchers studying long-term changes in sea temperatures said they now expect a "lull" for up to a decade while natural variations in climate cancel out the increases caused by man-made greenhouse gas emissions.

The average temperature of the sea around Europe and North America is expected to cool slightly over the decade while the tropical Pacific remains unchanged.

This would mean that the 0.3°C global average temperature rise which has been predicted for the next decade by the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change may not happen, according to the paper published in the scientific journal Nature.

However, the effect of rising fossil fuel emissions will mean that warming will accelerate again after 2015 when natural trends in the oceans veer back towards warming, according to the computer model.

Noel Keenlyside of the Leibniz Institute of Marine Sciences, Kiel, Germany, said: "The IPCC would predict a 0.3°C warming over the next decade. Our prediction is that there will be no warming until 2015 but it will pick up after that."

He stressed that the results were just the initial findings from a new computer model of how the oceans behave over decades and it would be wholly misleading to infer that global warming, in the sense of the enhanced greenhouse effect from increased carbon emissions, had gone away.
The IPCC currently does not include in its models actual records of such events as the strength of the Gulf Stream and the El Nino cyclical warming event in the Pacific, which are known to have been behind the warmest year ever recorded in 1998.

Today's paper in Nature tries to simulate the variability of these events and longer cycles, such as the giant ocean "conveyor belt" known as the meridional overturning circulation (MOC), which brings warm water north into the North East Atlantic.

This has a 70 to 80-year cycle and when the circulation is strong, it creates warmer temperatures in Europe. When it is weak, as it will be over the next decade, temperatures fall. Scientists think that variations of this kind could partly explain the cooling of global average temperatures between the 1940s and 1970s after which temperatures rose again.

Writing in Nature, the scientists said: "Our results suggest that global surface temperature may not increase over the next decade, as natural climate variations in the North Atlantic and tropical Pacific temporarily offset the projected anthropogenic [manmade] warming."

The study shows a more pronounced weakening effect than the Met Office's Hadley Centre, which last year predicted that global warming would slow until 2009 and pick up after that, with half the years after 2009 being warmer than the warmest year on record, 1998.

Commenting on the new study, Richard Wood of the Hadley Centre said the model suggested the weakening of the MOC would have a cooling effect around the North Atlantic.
"Such a cooling could temporarily offset the longer-term warming trend from increasing levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

"That emphasises once again the need to consider climate variability and climate change together when making predictions over timescales of decades."

But he said the use of just sea surface temperatures might not accurately reflect the state of the MOC, which was several miles deep and dependent on factors besides temperatures, such as salt content, which were included in the Met Office Hadley Centre model.

If the model could accurately forecast other variables besides temperature, such as rainfall, it would be increasingly useful, but climate predictions for a decade ahead would always be to some extent uncertain, he added.

Russia, Iran and Bible Prophecy

Does the Bible really predict the rise of a dictator in Russia? Does it really foretell the emergence of a Russian-Iranian alliance against Israel in the End of Days? And if so, is the military, political and economic alliance being formed in recent years by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad evidence that such prophecies are actually coming true in our lifetime? Glenn Beck and I have been discussing these questions all week. But let me lay them out in more detail here for those interested in going a bit deeper.

One of the most fascinating sets of End Times prophecies in the Bible are found in the Book of Ezekiel, chapters 38 and 39. Remarkably, the Hebrew Prophet Ezekiel, writing more than 2,500 years ago, was able to look down the corridors of time and see nations not yet born, and alliances not yet formed. In doing so, he actually did foretell the rise of a Russian military alliance with Iran and other Middle Eastern countries to annihilate Israel during the earth's "last days." This is known by many Bible scholars as the "War of Gog and Magog."

In a moment, I will walk you through the prophecies step-by-step. But first, let me note that the predictions found in Ezekiel chapters 36 & 37 have already come true. These are the famous chapters that foretell:

The rebirth of the State of Israel in the end times (both chapters)
The return of the Jews to the Holy Land after centuries in exile (Ezekiel 36:10-11, 36:24, 36:37-38, 37:12, 37:21)

The rebuilding of the ancient ruins in Israel (Ezekiel 36:36)
The re-blossoming of desolate, desert lands to produce abundant food, fruit and foliage (Ezekiel 36:8-9 and 36:30-35)

The creation of an "exceedingly great army" (Ezekiel 37:11)
Such prophecies began to be fulfilled in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, accelerated in 1948 and 1967, and continue to come to pass to this day. This, of course, raises an intriguing question: If Ezekiel 36 and 37 have largely come true in our lifetime, isn't it possible that Ezekiel 38 and 39 will soon come true as well?

WHO?
That said, let's examine Ezekiel 38 and 39 more carefully. In Ezekiel 38:1-6, the Hebrew prophet gives a list of obscure names that will form a united coalition. In my non-fiction book, Epicenter: Why The Current Rumblings In The Middle East Will Change Your Future, I carefully walk readers through these prophecies and document the historical detective work necessary to determine what modern nations are referred to by the ancient text. But here's an executive summary of the major points.

"Gog" is described as being "of the land of Magog" and as the "prince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal." Most Bible scholars believe Gog is not a name but a title, like Pharoah or Czar. He is a dictator who will hatch an "evil plan" (Ezekiel 38:10).

"Magog" - Leading Bible scholars say this is Russia and republics of the former Soviet Union. The first century Roman historian Josephus said the "Magogites" were the peoples whom the Greeks called "Scythians." Scythians were a fierce, blood-thirsty civilization that settled north of the Baltic Sea in what is now Russia and the European republics of the former USSR.

"Rosh, Meshech and Tubal" - Many, though not all, Bible scholars believe "Rosh" refers directly to Russia. Meshech is believed by many scholars to be Moscow (though some believe it refers to an ancient people group in Turkey). Some Bible scholars believe Tubal refers to the city/region of Tobolsk in Russia along the Tobol River. Others say it refers to a section of modern-day Turkey. (Interestingly, in 1964, massive reserves of oil and gas were discovered in the Tobolsk region of Siberia and people now refer to the region as the "energy center of Russia.")

"Persia" - This was the official name of Iran until 1935.

"Cush" - Based in significant part on the writings of the Roman historian Flavius Josephus, Bible scholars today believe "Cush" refers to Sudan and Ethiopia.

"Put" - Bible scholars are confident that this refers to the modern day country of Libya, though it may also refer to parts of Algeria and Tunisia, based on the writings of Josephus, among others.

"Gomer" - This is modern day Turkey, though some scholars also believe it could refer to Germany and Austria.

"Beth-togarmah" - This refers to Armenia and the Turkic-speaking peoples of Central Asia, including the Islamic former republics of the Soviet Union.

"Many peoples with you" who will attack along "the mountains of Israel" - Other countries will be involved in the coalition as well, notably countries that border the mountains of Israel. This includes Lebanon, Syria and possibly Jordan.

It should be noted that conspicuously absent from the list is Egypt and Iraq (typically referred to in Scripture as Babylon or Mesapotamia). This is noteworthy since Ezekiel was writing the prophecy in the City of Babylon, in the heart of Iraq. We would have to expect, then, that neither Egypt nor Iraq will participate. Egypt, of course, signed a peace treaty with Israel in 1979. Iraq is now so engrossed in its own internal struggles that it would be unlikely to join a coalition to destroy Israel in the next few years. We are, therefore, living in the first window in human history in which neither of these historic enemies of the Jewish people are likely to be involved in the next major Middle East war.

WHAT?
Ezekiel 38-39 explains that the Russian dictator known as "Gog" will develop an "evil plan" to attack and destroy Israel and seize her wealth. He will begin to build an enormous military coalition, comprised of the countries described above. He will make extensive preparations to strike. When the time is right, Ezekiel says Russia will then deploy this coalition against Israel in a show of overwhelming force, coming against the Jewish State "like a storm."

The Bible makes it clear that when this "War of Gog and Magog" begins, no country will come to Israel's defense. Not the United Nations. Not the European Union. Not even the United States. Israel will feel utterly alone, and her enemies will be convinced that they are on the verge of an historic victory in which the Jews will be wiped off the map once and for all. But Ezekiel then says some supernatural will occur. The God of Israel - the God of the Bible - will bring judgment upon the enemies of Israel, beginning with Gog, the dictator of Russia. The Lord will trigger a massive earthquake in which "all the men who are on the face of the earth will shake at My presence." Gog's forces will turn against one another, and then they will be subject to pestilence, torrential rains, hailstones, and even fire from heaven. Israel will then capture her enemies weapons and burn them for seven years and it will take seven full months to bury all the bodies of Israel's slain enemies, so great will be the devastation.

WHEN?
When will all this happen? We don't know for certain. But Ezekiel gives us several important clues. First, Israel will be a country again and Jews will be regathered to the Holy Land. Second, Israelis will be "living securely" before the "War of Gog and Magog," though the Scriptures do not go so far as to say that they will have comprehensive peace treaties with their neighbors. Third, Israel will have a measure of economic prosperity, according to the text. And fourth, Ezekiel 38:16 says explicitly that all these events "will come about in the last days" (that is, before the Battle of Armageddon).

In closing, let me be clear. Yes, Israel has been reborn as a country for the first time in 2,000 years. Yes, a dictator is rising to power in Russia that seems "Gog-esque." Yes, Russia and Iran are building an alliance today for the first time in 2,500 years. Yes, Russia and Libya are now building a new alliance. Yes, Iran is threatening to wipe Israel "off the map." Is all this conclusive proof that the "War of Gog and Magog" will happen soon, much less in our lifetime? No, I don't think we can make that assessment. Not yet, at least. Much more will have to happen to be sure. But can we rule out the possibility that this prophetic war could happen in the not-too-distant future? No, I don't think we can.

As for me, I don't want it to happen at all. But no man can stop what Bible prophecy says will come to pass. The most we can do is to be ready when it happens, and find ways to care for those in the Middle East and Russia who will be victims of this terrible war.

Hillary Rodham Clinton on Tuesday won a decisive victory in Pennsylvania, keeping alive her chances of securing the Democratic nomination for president, though Barack Obama still seems to have the upper hand for now.

But barely noticed by the mainstream media was a serious foreign policy error she made Tuesday morning on ABC's Good Morning America. I suspect, however, that should Sen. Clinton be so fortunate as to be the Democratic nominee -- much less President of the United States -- this error will come back to haunt her, and all of us.

"The question was if Iran were to launch a nuclear attack on Israel, what would our response be?" Clinton told interviewer Chris Cuomo. "And I want the Iranians to know that if I'm the president, we will attack Iran, and I want them to understand that, because it does mean that they have to look very carefully, uh, at their society. Because at whatever stage of development they might be in their nuclear weapons program, in the next ten years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them.

That's like a terrible thing to say, but those people who run Iran need to understand that because that perhaps will deter them from doing something that would be reckless, foolish, and tragic."

It sounded tough at the time -- threatening to annihilate the Islamic Republic of Iran if they were to launch nuclear attacks against Israel. But there were two serious flaws in what she said.
First, by offering a reactive rather than a proactive military strategy vis-a-vis Iran, Sen. Clinton is allowing for the possibility of another Holocaust. If Iranian leaders get nuclear warheads, and can attach them to the high speed ballistic missiles they already have, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad could do in about six minutes what it took Adolf Hitler six years to do: kill six million Jews (the number of Jews in Israel today). What good is it really to say that the U.S. would nuke Iran after Ahmadinejad accomplishes another Holocaust?

Second, Sen. Clinton believes her tough talk will "deter" Iran's leaders from launching a nuclear attack against Israel, but it won't. Sen. Clinton revealed in those comments her fundamental misunderstanding of the nature and threat of Ahmadinejad and his regime.

No one who truly understands Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's eschatology -- or end times theology -- could honestly believe that Ahmadinejad can be deterred. Ahmadinejad believes it is his God-given mission to annihilate the U.S., Israel and Judeo-Christian civilization as we know. To what end? To create the conditions that will bring the Islamic Messiah known as the Mahdi or the "12th Imam" to earth. As I point out in detail in my non-fiction book, Epicenter, that Glenn and I have discussed numerous times on his radio and TV shows, Ahmadinejad is not just another power-hungry dictator in the mold of the Soviet or Chinese leaders of yore. He is a Shia Islamic fascist. He believes his life destiny is to kill millions of Jews and Christians and usher in an Islamic caliphate. He believes he is a John-the-Baptist, a forerunner, of the Islamic Messiah. If he dies, he believes he will spend eternity in paradise with 72 virgins. But he doesn't really believe he's going to die. He believes he has been chosen for a divine appointment, and that nothing can stop him. That is what makes him so dangerous.

Unfortunately, too many Washington politicians -- Sens. Clinton and Obama included -- do not understand this. But understand this we must. For to misunderstand the nature and threat of Ahmadinejad's genocidal ambitions is to risk allowing the U.S. or our allies -- Israel, the EU or others -- to be blindsided by them. Ahmadinejad is not a terrorist in the classic sense. He doesn't simply want to frighten Jews and Christians. He wants to annihilate us. He cannot be deterred. He must be stopped BEFORE he and his regime is able to build, buy or steal nuclear weapons. If we wait too long, millions will die in an apocalyptic nightmare that will change the course of human history forever.

High blood pressure may play a role in protecting against migraine

People with high blood pressure appear to be less likely to have migraine than those with low blood pressure.
Researchers say stiff arteries associated with high blood pressure may play a role in protecting against migraine. The research is published in the April 15, 2008, issue of Neurology?, the medical journal of the American Academy of Neurology.

Researchers tested the blood pressure of 51,353 men and women over the age 20 in Norway, including the systolic, diastolic and pulse pressure rates. Pulse pressure is the change in blood pressure when the heart contracts. The rate is determined by subtracting the diastolic blood pressure, the bottom number, from the systolic blood pressure, or the top number.

The participants also completed a survey on the presence and frequency of headaches and their use of blood pressure medications.

The study found people with higher systolic blood pressure were up to 40 percent less likely to have a headache or migraine compared to people with healthier blood pressure rates.

"Higher pulse pressure was linked to up to a 50-percent reduction in the amount of headache and migraine for both men and women," said study author Erling Tronvik, MD, with the Norwegian National Headache Center at Trondheim University Hospital in Trondheim, Norway. "The finding was not as strong, however, for people who were taking blood pressure medications, which are sometimes used to treat migraine."

Tronvik says both high systolic blood pressure and pulse pressure are related to stiff arteries and that may decrease the risk of headaches by affecting the baroreflex arch. "The baroreflex arch helps maintain blood pressure, but when it is affected, it can cause hypoalgesia, a condition that makes a person less sensitive to pain," said Tronvik.

Tronvik says these results confirm previous studies which have found that increasing blood pressure is linked to decreasing amounts of chronic pain in all parts of the body.

Call Girls at Nursing Home Fuel Debate in Denmark

April 16 (Bloomberg) -- When a male resident at Kildegaarden nursing home in Denmark made an indecent sexual proposal to a member of the staff, the home's director, Inger Marie Kristensen, told a nurse to telephone for a prostitute.

``There was a considerable change in his demeanor after the escort girl had paid him a visit,'' Kristensen said in an interview. ``We do this for our clients just as we offer them other services that they need as human beings.''

Kildegaarden, located 100 miles (160 kilometers) west of Copenhagen in Skanderborg, has about 100 residents, including victims of Alzheimer's disease and strokes. Nurses arranged visits by call girls three times in the past three years.

While Welfare Minister Karen Jespersen says Denmark's 98 municipalities are free to let nurses call prostitutes, some lawmakers are stepping up efforts to pull women out of the profession, which has been legal in the country since 1999.

``I don't want to contribute to keeping this industry in business,'' said Mie Bergmann, an elected official with the Social-Liberal Party in Skanderborg, who led a failed vote to end prostitution at Kildegaarden.

Denmark is doubling spending to 80 million kroner ($17 million) over the next three years to get women out of the sex trade. The government estimates that 6,000 women work in the profession in the Scandinavian country of 5.5 million.

`Discriminating'

Copenhagen forbids contact with call girls in nursing homes. Other towns don't publicize their policies.

In a poll posted last week on the Web site of national broadcaster DR, 46 percent of 1,982 readers said nursing home staff should be able to organize visits by prostitutes, 45 percent were against the practice and 8 percent were undecided. A margin of error wasn't given.

Denmark's Society for Women started a campaign in March called ``Take a Position, Man'' urging men to sign up at a Web site to protest against prostitution. So far, 1,887 women and men, including the editor-in-chief of newspaper Politiken Thoeger Seidenfaden, have signed.

The Copenhagen-based Danish Sex-worker Association was established last month in a bid to protect the industry. The leader, who gives her name only as Susanne on the association's Web site, said prostitutes ``often'' visit Danish elderly homes.

``To forbid vulnerable customers from obtaining the services of a legal business is discriminating, both against the sex workers and the people who need help to get the services,'' Susanne said in an e-mailed response to questions.

Ban Proposal

An increasing number of Danes oppose prostitution, a December 2006 opinion poll by newspaper Politiken showed. Forty- two percent of 1,180 said prostitution was unacceptable compared with 25 percent four years earlier. A majority of 54 percent approved of prostitution, compared with 66 percent in 2002.

``I don't want a society where some people are used as a vehicle for others to live out their desires,'' Ozlem Sara Cekic, a Danish Turkish member of parliament for the Socialist People's Party, said in comments posted on her Web site.

The Danish People's Party, which backs the minority Liberal- Conservative government in parliament, said earlier this year it may join opposition lawmakers to form a majority in favor of a ban on the sex trade.

The parliamentary committee for social affairs announced this year that it's planning a trip to neighboring Sweden to investigate how that country has handled legislation it passed in 1999 that criminalized paying for sex.

For Kristensen, residents at the Kildegaarden home have rights under the current laws, no matter how old they are. And Danes are getting older. According to the Danish government Web site, on Jan. 1, 2007, 715 people were 100 years of age or more.

``Basically this is a matter of respecting the elderly and their needs,'' she said.

In Florida, an atheist became incensed over the preparation of Easter and Passover holidays. He decided to contact his lawyer about the discrimination inflicted on atheists by the constant celebrations afforded to Christians and Jews with all their holidays while atheists had no holiday to celebrate.

The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the long passionate presentation by the lawyer, the Judge banged his gavel and declared, "Case dismissed!"

The lawyer immediately stood and objected to the ruling and said, "Your honor, how can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas, Easter, and many other observances. Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur, and Hanukkah. Yet, my client and all other atheists have no such holiday!"

The judge leaned forward in his chair and simply said, "Obviously your client is too confused to even know about, much less celebrate his own atheists holiday!"

The lawyer pompously said, "Your Honor, we are unaware of any such holiday for atheists. Just when might that holiday be, your Honor?"

The judge said, "Well, it comes every year on exactly the same date---April 1st! Since our calendar sets April 1st as "April Fool's Day," consider that Psalm 14:1 states, "The fool says in his heart, there is no God." Thus, in my opinion, if your client says there is no God, then by Scripture, he is a fool, and April 1st is his holiday! Now have a good day, and get out of my courtroom!"

Dear Editor:

So many letter writers have based their arguments on how this land
is made up of immigrants. Ernie Lujan for one, suggests we should
tear down the Statue of Liberty because the people now in question
aren't being treated the same as those who passed through Ellis
Island and other ports of entry.

Maybe we should turn to our history books and point out to people
like Mr. Lujan why today's American is not willing to accept this new
kind of immigrant any longer. Back in 1900 when there was a rush
from all areas of Europe to come to the United States, people had to
get off a ship and stand in a long line in New York and be
documented. Some would even get down on their hands and knees
and kiss the ground. They made a pledge to uphold the laws and
support their new country in good and bad times. They made learning
English a primary rule in their new American households and some
even changed their names to blend in with their new home.

They had waved good bye to their birth place to give their children
a new life and did everything in their power to help their children
assimilate into one culture.

Nothing was handed to them. No free lunches, no welfare, no labor
laws to protect them. All they had were the skills and craftsmanship
they had brought with them to trade for a future of prosperity. Most
of their children came of age when World War II broke out. My father
fought alongside men whose parents had come straight over from
Germany, Italy, France and Japan. None of these 1st generation
Americans ever gave any thought about what country their parents had
come from. They were Americans fighting Hitler, Mussolini and the
Emperor of Japan. They were defending the United States of America
as one people. When we liberated France, no one in those villages
were looking for the French-American or the German American or the
Irish American. The people of France saw only Americans. And we
carried one flag that represented one country. Not one of those
immigrant sons would have thought about picking up another country's
flag and waving it to represent who they were. It would have been a
disgrace to their parents who had sacrificed so much to be here.
These immigrants truly knew what it meant to be an American. They
stirred the melting pot into one red, white and blue bowl.

And here we are in 2007 with a new kind of immigrant who wants the
same rights and privileges. Only they want to achieve it by playing
with a different set of rules, one that includes the entitlement
card and a guarantee of being faithful to their mother country. I'm
sorry, that's not what being an American is all about. I believe
that the immigrants who landed on Ellis Island in the early 1900's
deserve better than that for all the toil, hard work and sacrifice
in raising future generations to create a land that has become a
beacon for those legally searching for a better life. I think they
would be appalled that they are being used as an example by those
waving foreign country flags.

And for that suggestion about taking down the Statue of Liberty, it
happens to mean a lot to the citizens who are voting on the
immigration bill. I wouldn't start talking about dismantling the
United States just yet.
